Ghanaian defender Abdul Mumin has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury while playing for Rayo Vallecano.
Mumin sustained the injury during Vallecano’s 1-1 draw against Sevilla, forcing him off in the 35th minute. Reports from Spain confirm that the 26-year-old will be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.
The setback is a major blow for both Vallecano and Ghana, as Mumin has been a key player this season, making 24 appearances out of 26 La Liga matches and ranking first in the league for blocks.
His absence also complicates Ghana’s preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and 24. While he is expected to miss these crucial fixtures, there is hope that he could recover in time for the seventh and eighth rounds of qualification matches.
Mumin has earned two caps for the Black Stars and was seen as a potential key figure in Ghana’s defense for the qualifiers.
