Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku expressed his enthusiasm following Fenerbahce’s victory in their Turkish Super Lig opener. The team bounced back from a midweek defeat to Lille, securing a 1-0 win over Adana Demirspor to start the season on a positive note.
Former Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko scored the only goal of the match in the first half, capitalizing on a smart assist from summer signing Allan Saint-Maximin.
“Three points. We keep going. Thank you for all supporters. Fenerbahce,” Djiku posted after the game.
Djiku, who played the full 90 minutes, had previously appeared as a substitute in the UEFA Champions League qualifier against Lille. The 30-year-old, who celebrated his birthday last week, has been a crucial part of Fenerbahce’s defense since his move from Racing Club Strasbourg last summer.
Fenerbahce will look to build on their domestic success as they prepare to host Lille on Wednesday for the second leg of their Champions League qualifiers, aiming to secure a spot in the group stage.
