Ghana international Derrick Luckassen has completed a free transfer to Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade, signing a three-year deal after leaving Cypriot side Pafos FC.
The 31-year-old centre-back becomes the latest addition to the Red Star squad as they prepare for the new domestic and European campaign. He will wear the number 32 shirt.
Luckassen arrives with valuable experience from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he scored on his tournament debut during Ghana’s group-stage campaign. He made two appearances for the Black Stars in the competition.
The versatile defender will link up with fellow Ghanaians Osman Bukari and Douglas Owusu at the Marakana, strengthening the club’s African contingent.
Luckassen’s previous clubs include PSV Eindhoven, Hertha Berlin and Maccabi Tel Aviv. He spent the last two seasons at Pafos, helping the Cypriot side to domestic success before becoming a free agent this summer.
Red Star, the Serbian SuperLiga title holders, have moved quickly to secure the experienced defender as they look to bolster their back line ahead of another challenging season on multiple fronts.
