Ghana’s Black Stars have been placed in a challenging Group C alongside defending champions Ivory Coast, The Gambia, and Somalia following the draw for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The group features a strong West African rivalry between Ghana and Ivory Coast, both former continental champions, while The Gambia and Somalia complete the lineup as emerging sides aiming to cause an upset in the campaign.
The qualification matches are scheduled to begin in September 2026, with teams competing across 12 groups. The top two teams from each group will secure qualification for the expanded 48-team tournament set to be hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda from June to July 2027.
Ghana will now be aiming to navigate the difficult group successfully as they seek a return to the continental stage and reinforce their status as one of Africa’s football powerhouses.
