One of the targets of the Ghana Football Association for the vacant Black Stars head coach position, Tom Saintfiet, has been appointed by the Philippine Football Federation.
The move was announced by the Philippine Football Federation on Monday.
Tom Saintfiet has been incredible for The Gambia National team by qualifying the minnows to the last 2 AFCONs. He quit his role as the head coach after the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
Tom Saintfiet, 50, was among the coaches the Ghana Football Association was considering after the sacking of Chris Houghton due to shambolic performance in the 2023 AFCON.
“Proud to be the new National Team Head coach of the Philippine National Team,” said Saintfiet after signing for the Street Dogs of the Philippines.
Ranked 139 in the world by FIFA, the Philippines expect Tom Saintfiet to improve the national team by probably qualifying them for the 2027 Asian Cup to be played in Saudi Arabia.
Saintfiet will replace Michael Weiss, who was appointed as head coach last June 2023.
