Diana Amoako’s long-range strike from the centre hit the post, denying Ghana a second before halftime. But South Africa drew level after recess in the 48th minute. Ghana restored their lead in the 52nd minute when Linda Owusu Ansah scored from a corner kick.

The Princesses were pegged back after a defensive blunder saw the visitors equalise in the 60th minute. Ghana pushed for the lead, but their efforts were thwarted as Jessica Appiah’s goal was ruled offside in the 90th minute.

Ghana will travel to play the return leg in South Africa on Saturday, February 14th, 2026 with the winner set for the final round of qualifiers.
