Ghana international Tariq Lamptey is poised to become a free agent this summer after his contract with Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion expires on June 30, 2025.

Lamptey joined the Seagulls in 2020 from Chelsea and quickly became a vital player, especially under former manager Roberto De Zerbi. However, with no contract renewal discussions underway, the 24-year-old defender could be set to end his five-year stint at the club.

The speedy right-back will need to secure a new club if an extension deal with Brighton is not finalized before the summer transfer window.

In the meantime, Lamptey will miss Brighton’s final Premier League match of the season against Tottenham Hotspur. The Seagulls travel to face Spurs in the Week 38 fixture without their Ghanaian defender, who is sidelined with a knee injury.

Lamptey was absent from the squad in Brighton’s recent 3-2 victory over Liverpool, having been forced off with a knee injury in the prior game against Wolves. This setback comes just weeks after he returned from a foot injury.

This injury will see Lamptey miss his second consecutive match, ruling him out of Brighton’s crucial final game of the season.

Throughout the campaign, Lamptey’s playing time was limited by persistent injuries, featuring in only 15 Premier League matches, during which he scored twice and provided two assists. Across all competitions, he made 20 appearances and contributed five goals for the club this season.
