Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo and striker Jalal Abdulai have earned spots in Sofascore’s team of the week following their stellar performances against AIK.
Baidoo and Abdulai led Elfsborg to a dominant 6-1 win over AIK in Wednesday evening’s Swedish Allsvenskan match.
Baidoo was instrumental in the victory, scoring a goal and providing an assist, while Abdulai netted twice, showcasing their attacking prowess.
At the Borås Arena, Baidoo opened the scoring with a right-footed shot from a difficult angle in the 51st minute and then assisted Abdulai for his first goal just six minutes into the game.
Abdulai’s impact was immediate, with a left-footed goal in the 6th minute and a header in the 18th minute, both set up by teammates, firmly establishing Elfsborg’s control early in the match.
Despite AIK having more possession and shots, Elfsborg’s efficiency in front of goal made the difference. Ahmed Qasem also contributed, scoring a header before halftime and converting a penalty in the final minutes.
This convincing win enhances Elfsborg’s record against AIK to eight victories. In the 2024 Swedish Allsvenskan season, Baidoo has now accumulated three goals and two assists in eight matches, while Abdulai has scored twice in the same number of appearances.
