London will play host to the highly anticipated Unity Cup 2025 in May, bringing together football powerhouses from Africa and the Caribbean. Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago will compete in this prestigious tournament, which celebrates the rich footballing traditions of both regions.

Dubbed “The Best in the West – The Afro Classico Contest,” the tournament features two intense semi-final matchups. On Tuesday, May 27, Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica will face off in the historic TriniJam Derby, marking their first-ever clash on UK soil. The following day, Wednesday, May 28, arch-rivals Ghana and Nigeria will reignite their legendary football feud in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

The tournament reaches its climax on Saturday, May 31, with a double-header. The third-place match will precede the grand final, where one team will be crowned Unity Cup 2025 champions.

Nigeria, a two-time champion, enters the competition as a strong contender, backed by a higher FIFA ranking and solid recent performances. However, Ghana will be keen to recreate their emphatic 4-1 victory over the Super Eagles in their last London showdown. Meanwhile, Jamaica will seek redemption after narrowly missing out on victory in their previous tournament appearance.

Rotimi Pedro, CEO of AfroSport, expressed his enthusiasm about the tournament’s revival, stating: “The Unity Cup is back! It has been a long journey to bring this event to life again, and we are thrilled that fans of African and Caribbean football will witness top-tier international action in London.”

AfroSport Co-Director Andy Howes highlighted the broader impact of the event, saying: “This tournament goes beyond just football; it underscores the cultural and commercial significance of African and Caribbean football, as well as the growing influence of black football fans in England.”

With top-quality matches, historic rivalries, and a celebration of African and Caribbean football heritage, Unity Cup 2025 promises to be an unforgettable spectacle.
