Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has admitted that the Ghana national football team are not fully prepared for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking in an interview with Citi Sports, the Minister pointed to a major gap in the team’s technical setup, revealing that Ghana is currently without a head coach following the departure of Otto Addo.
The Ghana Football Association is actively searching for a new coach, with key decision-makers expected to meet on Friday to advance the process.
Despite the uncertainty, Adams remains confident the situation will be resolved in time for the tournament.
“We’re not fully ready yet for the World Cup. We don’t even have a head coach, but I see us being ready by the time we play our first game,” he said.
Ghana will open their campaign against Panama national football team on June 17, 2026, and are drawn in a tough Group L alongside England national football team and Croatia national football team.
Adams believes that with the right structure and leadership in place, the Black Stars can still rise to the challenge and compete strongly on the global stage.
