The Ghana Police Service has identified the prime suspect in the fatal stabbing of Asante Kotoko supporter Nana Pooley during the club’s match against Nsoatreman on February 2, 2025.
The suspect, identified as Braimah, remains at large as law enforcement intensifies efforts to apprehend him.
The tragic incident unfolded after an on-field altercation between players escalated into the stands, culminating in the deadly attack on Pooley. Following the incident, the police launched an extensive investigation, leading to multiple arrests, including that of Nsoatreman owner Ignatius Baffour-Awuah.
In a significant development, Asante Kotoko’s lawyer, Sarfo Duku, disclosed after a court appearance that police documents and statements from suspects confirm Braimah as the individual responsible for Pooley’s death.
“One person is still at large. He’s called Braimah, and according to the police, based on their findings, he is the one who actually stabbed the deceased,” Duku revealed.
He further stated: “All the accused persons have admitted that it was Braimah, who is currently on the run, that stabbed Pooley to death. This is according to the police’s official report, which is now a public document.”
As investigations continue, Asante Kotoko honored their fallen supporter with a one-week memorial celebration on Sunday, February 16, 2025. The solemn event brought together fans from various Ghana Premier League clubs, uniting in tribute to Pooley’s unwavering passion and support for the club.
