Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC annihilated Accra Lions FC on Monday night in the Ghana Premier League week 16 clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with ease.
The Reds stamped their authority early in the game making it difficult for the Lions in the frenetic encounter to move second on the league table.
The home team started on a good note and was purposeful upfront right from the beginning of the match with good passes.
Former Medeama SC midfielder Rashid Announces availed himself and announced his presence with the simplest of touch to cap off a delightful team play after he was sent up by Richard Boadu to make it 1-0.
Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala breezed past the Lions defense with ease and as if they didn’t exist as he slotted home brilliantly to double Kotoko’s lead on the 26th minute mark.
On the 59th minute mark of the match, Mukwala was at the double when he exquisitely connected to Augustine Agyapong’s cross to make it 3-0 to the Porcupines.
Kotoko were at this time in full control of the match as they begun to toil with the Lions who had no antidotes to the venom of the Porcupine Warriors.
Former Kumasi King Faisal FC star player, Enock Morrison came up with a brilliant individual strike from the edge of the box into the bottom right corner to make it 4 – 0 to the home team.
Kotoko from there on were in a comfortable lead and were in no hurry for more goals as they won the game 4-0.
The Porcupine Warriors will next face Dreams FC at the Theater of Dreams in Dawu this weekend as Lions play host to Bibiani Gold Stars FC next Monday.
