Accra Hearts of Oak were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw against Bechem United in their Ghana Premier League week four encounter at the Nana Fosu Gyabour Park.
The Phobians came into the match with confidence after their win over Eleven Wonders, but they could not break down a determined Bechem side. The Hunters, on the other hand, are still chasing their first victory of the season, having now gone four games without a win.
Bechem coach Kassim Mingle handed winger Augustine Okrah his first start of the campaign, with Emmanuel Abban and Darlvin Yeboah joining him in attack. Hearts coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani also reshuffled his line-up, bringing in Prince Owusu Kwabena and Kelvin Assibey for Ali Mohammed and George Paaku.
The visitors started strongly and almost went ahead when Prince Owusu fired narrowly wide. Later in the first half, Hamza Issah missed a clear chance to put the Phobians in front. Bechem responded well, with Abban wasting a golden opportunity from Okrah’s delivery before Yeboah also shot off target.
After the interval, the Hunters piled on the pressure, creating several chances through Okrah and Abban, but the Hearts backline held firm. Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare made a crucial late save to deny substitute Kofi Tompuo, ensuring the Phobians preserved their clean sheet.
The result means Hearts remain unbeaten this season with two wins and two draws, keeping an impressive defensive record of not conceding in four matches. Bechem, however, are still searching for their first win, with two draws and two defeats so far.
