Berekum Chelsea secured their first win of the season by defeating Karela United 1-0 at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday, September 15, 2024.

The match’s only goal came in the 10th minute when Mizack Afriyie took advantage of Karela United’s failure to properly clear a corner, giving Samuel Boadu’s side an early lead.

Karela United had a chance to equalize in the 54th minute when Asigri Mohammed found space, but his effort was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Obeng Sekyere, who kept Berekum Chelsea’s lead intact.

Despite Karela’s efforts, Berekum Chelsea held on to their slim advantage, earning their first victory at their new home ground in Dormaa.

Karela United, now facing back-to-back losses to start the season, remain winless.

Following this result, Berekum Chelsea moves up to 3rd place in the league standings with 4 points, while Karela finds themselves in 16th position.

Berekum Chelsea will have a break on matchday 3, while Karela will return to Nalerigu to host Accra Lions in their next fixture.
