The 2023-24 Ghana Premier League will conclude on Sunday 16th June with so many important fixtures to be played to determine the fate of so many clubs.
The league has already been decided as Samartex has been crowned the champions for the first time in their history.
Tano Bofoakwa and Real Tamale United have also been relegated with the latter causing a whole lot of brouhaha in their midweek outstanding game against Dreams FC in Dawu by firing an entire team of unregistered players. One team will join them for next season’s Access Bank Division One League.
From 12th placed Heart of Lions to 16th place in Accra Great Olympics, any of them can mathematically be relegated although some may need cricket scorelines and it can happen looking at how things have been panning out in recent game weeks.
Dreams FC pulverised RTU 8-1 in the outstanding game on Wednesday helping them kiss the relegation fears bye. The Still Believe sits 11th in the table and has sealed their spot for next season’s GPL.
Heart of Lions have won their last five games and will travel to Berekum Chelsea on the final day. The Kpando-based club has gathered incredible momentum towards the end of the season and it will take something crazy for them to face relegation.
Accra Great Olympics occupies the last slot for the relegation. Luckily for Great Olympics, they will host the already relegated Real Tamale United with rumours being that the Tamale-based club will not honour the game.
Accra Hearts of Oak is in huge danger as they travel to face Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in Bechem. The Phobians must at all costs beat Bechem United else they will be relegated.
Karela United are just two points above the relegation zone and must beat Medeama in Tarkwa to remain in the league. Karela are one point above Hearts of Oak and two above Oly Dade. If they lose and the two Accra giants win, Karela might drop into the relegation zone.
Legon Cities sits 12th on the log having won 44 points, three points above the 16th place Accra Great Olympics. A draw for Legon Cities at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu against Bibiani Gold Stars will secure a place for Legon Cities on the final day.
Sunday will be a great day in the GPL as a whole lot is at stake in most of the games.
