FC Samartex 1996  extended its lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League to five points with a 3-2 win over Berekum Chelsea at home on Sunday.

The Timber giants survived a late Chelsea scare to continue their forward march in their title pursuit at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.

A brace from Evans Osei Wusu and Baba Hamadu Musa secured the win for the home, which has now scored six goals in three matches.

Stephen Amankona scored the two goals for Berekum Chelsea as the match ended in a five-goal thriller.

Samartex have now opened a five-point lead at the summit of the table after second-placed Nations FC lost ground at home in the title race.

Nations FC lost ground in the Premier League title race after stuttering to a 2-2 draw at home to Bofoakwa Tano.

Kassim Mingle’s side failed to pick maximum points, causing the team to fall five points behind FC Samartex at the top of the table.

Charles Mensah opened the scoring for the visitors on 13th minute before Barimah Baah pulled parity on the stroke of the first half.

The visitors went ahead eight minute to regulation time before Prince Acquah scored to share the spoils in the 87th minute.

Nations FC will have to find their mojo with eight matches left to play if they are to take the Premier League race down to the wire.

Aduana Stars scored in injury- time to hand them a vital 1-0 win over relegation-threatened Heart of Lions at home on Sunday.

Alex Boakye stepped up with the only goal of the match three minutes into injury time to give Aduana their 14th win of the season.

The Fire Club are now two points behind Nations FC in second and seven points behind leaders Samartex.

Champions Medeama moved into the Premier League top four, but made work hard of seeing off Legon Cities thanks to Kamaradini Mamudu second half header.

The in-form right-back executed an impressive gravity defying leap and header to score five minutes into the second half to separate the two teams at the Akoon Community park.

The defending champions are now back in the top-four with 40 points,  nine behind leaders Samartex with eight games to end the season.

Dreams FC moved out of the relegation zone with a comfortable 2-0 win over Asante Kotoko at home on Sunday.

A goal in each half from Sylvester Simba and Derrick Atta Agyei handed the Believers an important win to compound the misery of the Porcupine Warriors.

Kotoko have now gone seven consecutive games without a win – losing a staggering six and drawing once in the process.

Dreams FC have now won three of their last four meetings against Asante Kotoko to underline their dominance over the Porcupine Warriors.

Bechem United came from behind to beat basement club Real Tamale United3-2 in a five-goal thriller at home on Sunday.

Two own goals and a final strike from Cephas Mantey handed United the vital win against the bottom-placed team at the Nana Gyeabour park.

Great Olympics picked an important point away –  drawing 1-1 at Nsoatreman FC at the Professor Nana Nana Konamansah Park.

Collins Cudjoe scored the equalizer three minutes into injury time to deny the visitors a big win in Nsoatre after Emmanuel Akesseh had put the Accra side infront.
