Heart of Lions continued their strong form on Sunday, securing a 1-0 win over Legon Cities at the University of Ghana Stadium. Christian Boateng scored the only goal of the game in the first half, sealing another important victory for the Lions.
Boateng’s strike earned all three points for Heart of Lions, who are now enjoying a three-game winning run. This latest success moves them up to third place on the Ghana Premier League table and keeps their dream of winning the title alive. Their next big test will be a crucial clash against defending champions Samartex in Kpando.
The match was tightly contested, with Heart of Lions slightly edging possession with 51%, while Legon Cities held 49%. The hosts recorded five shots, two of which were on target. Lions, on the other hand, managed six shots but only one — Boateng’s goal — was on target.
It was another tough day for Legon Cities. The loss marks their second defeat in a row, leaving them stuck in the relegation zone, seven points away from safety. Time is running out, and they now face a serious challenge to avoid relegation.
Heart of Lions will aim to keep their winning momentum when they welcome Medeama in their next game. Meanwhile, Legon Cities must find a way to bounce back quickly if they are to keep their hopes of staying in the top flight alive.
