Karela United snatched a last-minute 1-1 draw against defending champions Samartex at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale on Sunday afternoon.
The result leaves Karela United with 5 points, while Samartex edges up to 6 points in the league standings.
Samartex took the lead just before halftime, with Godwin Sefah netting a crucial goal in the 45th minute. The champions looked poised to take all three points, but Karela United fought back late in the game.
Hadi Muhammed came through for the home side, scoring a dramatic equalizer in the 90th minute, salvaging a point and igniting celebrations among the Karela supporters.
Karela United will now shift focus to their next fixture against Basake Holy Stars, aiming to build on this late comeback.
