Asante Kotoko extended their unbeaten run with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over defending champions FC Samartex at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.
Albert Amoah scored the decisive goal in the 31st minute, slotting home from Patrick Asiedu’s pinpoint out-swinging cross. The win marked Kotoko’s third consecutive triumph, reinforcing their strong start to the season.
Kotoko controlled 53% of the possession and dominated the attacking front, producing 17 goal attempts to Samartex’s five. Of those, Kotoko had four shots on target, while Samartex only forced two saves from the Kotoko goalkeeper. Despite the narrow scoreline, Kotoko’s defense remained solid, ensuring a clean sheet.
With this result, Kotoko now sit second on the league table, just one point behind leaders Bibiani Goldstars, with a game in hand.
Next, Kotoko will travel to Accra to face Legon Cities, aiming to keep their unbeaten streak alive. Samartex, meanwhile, will look to bounce back in their upcoming clash against Berekum Chelsea.
