Karela United delivered a spirited performance to defeat Medeama SC 3-1 on Matchweek 31 of the Ghana Premier League, securing a vital three points in their battle against relegation.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Abubakar Malik finished off a well-worked move to give Karela the lead. Despite Medeama’s efforts to respond, Alihassan Ali doubled the advantage in the 62nd minute with a perfectly timed header.
Just five minutes later, Malik struck again to complete his brace, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to make it 3-0 and put Karela firmly in control.
Medeama managed a quick response through Godknows Gzakpasu, who pulled one back in the 68th minute, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback as Karela comfortably saw out the match.
The result lifts Karela United to 14th on the table with 35 points, just above the relegation zone. Medeama SC, meanwhile, remain in 7th place with 47 points as their hopes of a top-four finish take a hit.
