Legon Cities and Accra Lions played to an intense draw at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, with fans expressing frustration over questionable refereeing decisions that nearly overshadowed the game.
After a slow opening, Legon Cities carved out the best chance of the first half when Williams Kwaku Adjei found himself one-on-one with Accra Lions’ goalkeeper, Osei Bonsu. However, hesitation allowed the Lions’ defense to recover and dispossess Adjei before he could capitalize.
Accra Lions grew stronger as the half progressed, with forward Lucky Nwafor nearly scoring from a close-range header that led to a shot wide by Baba Apiiga. Near the halftime whistle, Salman Faris, set up brilliantly by Remember Boateng, was also denied by solid defending.
Early in the second half, Legon Cities tested Osei Bonsu with a well-placed effort by Albert Amoah, but the keeper remained resolute. Midway through the half, Accra Lions earned a free kick on the edge of the box, which Remember Boateng took quickly, setting up Fuzy Taylor for a rebound that was ultimately cleared by the Legon Cities defense.
