Nsoatreman FC managed to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw against Bechem United in a captivating Bono regional derby on Sunday, marking matchday nine of the Ghana Premier League season at the Nana Amoah Kronmansah II Park in Nsuatre.
The home side, known as ‘Tete Amanaso,’ started strong, with striker Mohammed Abdul Rahaman converting a penalty in the 12th minute to give Nsoatreman an early advantage. Dominating possession and creating opportunities, Nsoatreman appeared ready to extend their lead, but Bechem’s resilient defense held firm, keeping it 1-0 at halftime.
Bechem came back energized after the break, quickly equalizing through forward Emmanuel Abban, who scored his second goal of the season. In the 57th minute, Nsoatreman’s hopes took a hit when defender Emmanuel Ankrah mistakenly deflected the ball into his own net, allowing Bechem to take a 2-1 lead.
Determined to avoid defeat, Nsoatreman found redemption in the 84th minute when substitute Collins Kudjoe scored to level the match, preserving their unbeaten home record, now at 13 games.
The result leaves both teams with valuable points but reflecting on missed opportunities in a fiercely competitive derby.
