Vision FC and FC Port City played out a hard-fought goalless draw at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema on Saturday, with both sides forced to settle for a point in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 8 encounter.
The two clubs entered the fixture in confident mood after recording victories in their previous outings, but neither could find the breakthrough in a closely contested contest dominated by disciplined defending.
Port City enjoyed the better share of possession throughout the afternoon, controlling 56 per cent of the ball compared to Vision FC’s 44 per cent, and looked the more threatening side in attack.
The visitors also created more attempts on goal, finishing with eight shots against Vision FC’s three, but both teams struggled to produce the quality needed in the final third.
Vision FC remained compact defensively and frustrated Port City’s attacking players, while the visitors also stood firm whenever the hosts ventured forward, ensuring the game ended without a goal.
The draw extends Port City’s encouraging start to life in the Ghana Premier League and lifts them to third place with 12 points after eight matches, although their position could change depending on the outcome of the remaining weekend fixtures.
For Vision FC, the result moves them to 13th place with seven points, as the Tema-based club continues its quest for consistency in its maiden top-flight campaign.
Both teams will now shift their attention to their next league assignments, with Vision FC travelling to face Karela United, while Port City return home to entertain Basake Holy Stars as they look to return to winning ways.
