Asante Kotoko is set to clash with Accra Lions on Matchday 21 of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday, with the Porcupine Warriors eager to secure a crucial victory to bolster their championship ambitions.

After suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Karela United in their previous match, Asante Kotoko currently occupies the 3rd position in the league table with 32 points. They have managed three wins and two losses in their last five league fixtures. At home, they have amassed a total of 18 points, conceding only three goals and scoring consistently at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Accra Lions, on the other hand, enters the game unbeaten in their last two league matches, including an impressive 5-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea. With 24 points and one game in hand, they are positioned 14th in the league standings. The Lions have displayed resilience on the road, securing nine points and scoring seven goals while conceding 13.

Having faced Accra Lions twice in previous league seasons, Asante Kotoko emerged victorious on both occasions, winning 3-1 in 2021/22 and clinching a 4-0 victory in the 2022/23 season.

Asante Kotoko’s top scorer, Stephen Mukwala Desse, aims to reignite his goal-scoring form against Accra Lions, supported by players like Richmond Lamptey, Justice Blay, and Nicholas Mensaah. Accra Lions, meanwhile, boasts a talented squad featuring Ali Mohammed, Dominic Amponsah, and Ibrahim Issa, among others.
