Asante Kotoko will hope to continue their resurgence in the Premier League when they entertain Legon Cities at home on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors appears to have found their mojo after picking four points from a possible six from two matches.

The record Ghana Premier League holders beat league leaders Samartex 1-0 and sniffed a point at Tarkwa in a 1-1 stalemate against defending champions Medeama.

Coach Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum’s men have their work cut out for them when they welcome Cities to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Asante Kotoko will have to dig deep for a win following recent struggles at home where the team had gone seven matches without a win prior to their solitary success over FC Samartex 1996.

That win, followed by their 1-1 draw at Medeama, has sparked a new wave of optimism within the group as they host Legon Cities.

The Cities will be out for revenge against the Porcupine Warriors after they suffered a 3-1 defeat in the reverse fixture at the WAFA park in Sogakope almost six months ago.

The Royals have recorded back-to-back wins in the league following victories against Hearts of Oak and Berekum Chelsea.

Asante Kotoko are 11th on the table with 37 points after 28 matches, having won 1, drawn 2 and suffered 2 defeats in their last 5 games. They are the lowest ranked team with the least number of points accumulated at home, scoring 11 and conceding 9 goals.

Legon Cities have accumulated 38 points from 27 matches with one outstanding game to play against Dreams FC. The Royals have won 3, drawn 1 and lost 1 in their last 5 encounters. They have recorded 8 points away from home, scoring 6 and conceding 17.

Paa Kwesi Fabin’s side are winless in their last 5 away matches.

Kotoko have played Legon Cities three times at home since 2020/21 season with the Kumasi giants winning one, drawing one and losing one.

In the 2020/21 season, Asante Kotoko beat Legon Cities 1-0, lost 1-3 in the 2021/22 season before recording a 1-1 draw in the 2022/23 season.

Asante Kotoko Star man Stephen Mukwala Desse will be available for selection on Sunday as well as Shadrack Addo, Henry Ansu, Yahaya Baba, Justice Blay, Emmanuel Kotei, Nicholas Bonsu, Enock Morrison, Andrews Ntim, Serge Zeze, Sherif Mohammed and Kalo Ouattara.

Legon Cities star man Kwabena Boateng, who has scored 5 goals so far, and last week’s brace-hero Frederick Atatuk are available for selection.

They can also count on the likes of Frank Akoto, Mohammed Alidu, Stephen Appiah Asare, Morris Fuseini, Mohammed Suleman, Samuel Tenedu, Albert Yeboah, Rahim Abdul, Stephen Blankson and Fredrick Akatuk.
