League leaders FC Samartex 1996 travel to a Real Tamale United (RTU) outfit still scrapping for their top-flight status at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex on Sunday May 6, 2024.

The Timber giants are seven points clear at the top of the table and will move a step closer of securing their first ever Ghana Premier League title if they manage a win away from home.

They staved off a brilliant performance from Great Olympics to win 1-0 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena to maintain their firm grip at the top of the table.

FC Samartex have been absolutely brilliant this season, learning lessons from their relegation escape last season to now on the cusp of a historic Premier League crown.

They travel to the northern part of Ghana aiming to add RTU to their list of victims in the Ghanaian top-flight.

RTU are rocked-bottom and will have to do the unthinkable to avoid the drop following a difficult campaign laced with financial difficulties and change of venues.

A win for FC Samartex will but all secure the league title for the Aboi-based side as they will play three home matches in the remaining five subsequent games.

Real Tamale United have won 2 and suffered 3 defeats in their last 5 games. They are at the bottom of the table with 25 points from 27 matches with one outstanding game to be cleared on the road against Dreams FC.

Real Tamale United lost their last home game against Nsoatreman FC, accumulating 22 points, scoring 17 and conceding 15. They are ranked as the 3rdleast performers at home.  Real Tamale United have conceded the most goals in this campaign (47).

FC Samartex 1996 have accumulated 52 points from 28 matches and sit on top of the table, having won 3, drawn 1 and lost 1 in their last 5 games.

They have managed to secure 13 points away from home, scoring 10 and conceding 15. The Samreboi based are winless in their last 4 away encounters and are ranked as the 4th best away side in this campaign. FC Samartex 1996 are the second highest scoring side in this campaign (37).

It’s a cracker between the 3rd weakest home side and the 3rd best away side in the league.

The basement side Real Tamale United have played Coach Nurudeen Amadu’s side once at home in the league since FC Samartex 1996 jointed the Premiership in the 2022/23 season as it ended in goalless draw.

Mohammed Mankuyeli despite his club current form in the league has banged in 9 goals and will be available for the clash on Sunday. Asuno Adjetey, Issah Ahmed, Abdul Aziz, Iddrisu Gadafi, Faisal Gariba, Adams Hafiz, Mohammed Iddriss, Baba Kushibo, Awudu Mohammed and Lord Adabo are all fit for selection.

FC Samartex 1996 top scorer Evans Osei Wusu is expected to lead the attack with the likes of Baba Musah and Emmanuel Keyekeh all in contention.

Other key players like Emmanuel Mamah, James Sewornu, Dauda Yussif Seidu, Michael Ephson, Ebenezer Acquah, Isaac Afful, Richmond Darko, Desmond Gyabeng, Emmanuel Adu Siaw, Kwasi Ofosu and Francis Gyetuah are all available for selection.
