Tarkwa-based Premier League side Medeama SC defeated Bechem United FC on Monday afternoon at the Akoon Park to go second on the table after 30 games.
The Mauves and Yellow outfits beat the Hunters 2-1 at home to leapfrog them to take over the second place heading into the last four games of the season.
Jonathan Mensah Sowah scored the opening goal of the match to put the hosts 1-0 up 18 minutes into the highly competitive clash between second and third placed teams in the ongoing 2022-23 Ghana Premier League.
Captain, Vincent Atinga scored from the spot after 33 minutes of the match to give Medeama SC a two-goal lead before the break.
Francis Acquah, on the 82nd minute mark scored what became only a consolation goal for the away team who succumbed to a 2-1 loss on the road.
Medeama moves to 50 points from 30 games and are two points behind League leaders Aduana Stars FC and two points above the Hunters.
Medeama and Aduana Stars will both play in Accra next in their round of 31 Premier League matches against Accra Hearts of Oak SC and Accra Lions FC respectively.
