Hearts of Oak defender Kelvin Osei Asibey has urged recognition for players performing in the domestic league, insisting they also deserve opportunities to represent the Black Stars ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
The former Eleven Wonders centre-back has been in stellar form for the Phobians this season, impressing in key matches including the recent 1-0 victory over Asante Kotoko at Baba Yara Sports Stadium. His commanding display in the Super Clash caught the attention of Black Stars technical team led by Otto Addo.
Speaking to Kessben FM, Osei Asibey emphasized his readiness to answer a national team call and pledged to continue working hard at the club level.
“Players plying their trade in the domestic league also deserve Black Stars call-up. As a citizen of this great country, I’m ever ready to honour a Black Stars invitation. In the meantime, I will continue to do my best for my club,” he said.
The Super Clash win saw Hearts move to second place in the Ghana Premier League with 39 points after 22 matches, highlighting Osei Asibey’s role in the team’s defensive solidity and his potential as a candidate for Ghana’s World Cup squad.
