The Ghana Premier League has returned with a bang as teams look to romp up the points before the 2022 World Cup begins.

In all, exciting players from Ghanaian teams will be showing their prowess in the coming matches.

Today, we take a look at the most valuable XI in the Ghana Premier League at the moment.

What it’s about
The most valuable XI takes a look at the values of players at the GPL level and picks out the ones with the highest to make a starting eleven.

The starting eleven is based on values provided by Transfermarkt. The formation used is a 4-2-3-1

The current eleven include five players for Hearts of Oak, one from Asante Kotoko, two from Great Olympics, one from Real Tamale United, one from Medeama, and the final one from Karela United.

Hearts of Oak dominance

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh

Hearts of Oak went shopping during the summer transfer window and acquired some exciting players.

But the biggest one is Konadu Yiadom, a player they signed from WAFA.

He is the joint highest most valuable player in the league at the moment, valued at €200,000.

In the old guard, there are Dennis Korsah (€100,000), Samuel Inkoom (€100,000), Richard Attah (€150,000), and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh (€150,000) who has been linked away from the club.

Hearts of Oak make up €600,000 of the most valuable XI. The total cost of the team is €1,425,000.

The other players

Agyemang Badu is a bright light for Ghana football. He joined Great Olympics as a free agent and is already viewed as one of the best players in the competition. He is valued at €200,000.

His teammate, Maxwell Abbey Quaye, leads the line. He is valued at an impressive €150,000. He joined the Black Stars squad in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The defending champions have just one player in the team, and that person is Georges Mfegue, one of the best in the league last season. He is valued at €150,000.

In Tarkwa, there is one defender on everyone’s lips. That person is Vincent Atingah from Medeama. He is an excellent penalty taker and has a strong presence at the back with a value of €125,000.

Umar Bashiru was among the top scorers in the league last season, doing business from the middle of the park for Karela United. He is valued at €150,000.

The last person is a powerful attacking midfielder; David Abagna Sandan. He joined Real Tamale United last season and has never looked back, scoring crucial goals for his team. He is valued at €150,000.
