Ghana Premier League Week 16 Preview: Berekum Chelsea take on Bofoakwa Tano in Bono derby

There is plenty to play for in the game between  Berekum Chelsea and Bofoakwa Tano at the Golden City Park on Saturday.

Bofoakwa Tano have failed to pick a point in their last two games against FC Samartex 1996 and Legon Cities after playing both games away from home following their two-game home ban.

Berekum Chelsea are 3rd in the league table with 26 points – won 3, drawn 1 and lost 1 in their last 5 games.

The Blues have won 5, drawn 1, lost 1, scored 7 and conceded 2 goals at home and rank among the top 5 clubs with the most points accumulated at home in the 2023/24 league season.

Bofoakwa Tano were dealt a blow after their home ban as they gave yet to win since their 1-0 win over Nations FC.  The Sunyani lads are 13th in the league table with 16 points, having won 1, drawn 2 and lost 2 in their last 5 games.

Bofoakwa Tano have managed 4 points, scored 3 and conceded 5 goals in their last five games and have 2 outstanding games against Dreams FC and champions Medeama SC due to the duo’s participation in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively.

This is the first time Berekum Chelsea are facing Bofoakwa Tano in the Ghana Premier League history.

Stephen Amankonah, top scorer for Berekum Chelsea will hope to add to his 6-goal tally on Saturday against Bofoakwa Tano.

Patrick Ansu who wo  the day against Real Tamale United on the road is buzzing for another start. The likes of Zakaria Fuseini, Collins Ameyaw, Flavien Kwasi, Ywa Danquah, Afriyie Mezack, Lord Amoah, Patrick Asiedu and Emmanuel Sarpong all ready for action on Saturday.

Saaka Dauda has banged in 5 goals for the Bofoakwa Tano and is expected to lead the lines for the visitors. Other players include Steven Owusu, Clement Ansah, Elvis Opoku, Kelvin Oppong, Clinton Baffour, Alhassan Ali, Elijah Addai, Dana Blessing and Najib Ibrahim.

The game will be broadcast live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247 at 3pm on Saturday, December 23,2023.
