Former Black Stars winger Laryea Kingston, the younger brother of Richard Kingston, has been an avid fan of the Ghana Premier League as he shares his opinion on the best-performed players in every position match every week.
Laryea selected 3 players from Hearts of Oak and Nations FC after their superb 2-1 and 1-0 triumphs over Nsoatreman and Samartex respectively.
Berekum Chelsea got 2 players Asante Kotoko, Great Olympics, and Legon Cities each had 1 player.
This is Laryea’s Best XI of Week 19 in the Ghana Premier League.
4-3-3
Coach: Kasim Mingle Ocansey
Goalkeeper
Japhet Norvienyo (Nations FC): Japhet was very lucky not to concede a goal against Samartex as he was on 4 occasions saved by the woodwork but was also solid and commanding as he made some crucial saves against the Timber Giants in Smaraboi.
Defenders
Justice Blay (Asante Kotoko), RB
Asante Kokoto’s midfielder-turned-right-back has played his new role (RB) with ease. Under the Baba Yara floodlight on Friday, Blay was unbeatable on Kotoko’s right side of defence as his composure and passing from the back was excellent.
* Kofi Agbesimah (Hearts of Oak), RCB
Hearts of Oak recorded an unbelievable 2-1 win in Nsoatre against Nsoatreman. Kofi Agbesimah was so solid at the back as he helped Hearts of Oak protect their lead.
* Zakaria Fuseini (Berekum Chelsea), LCB
Berekum Chelsea kept a clean sheet due to Fuseini’s solidity which prevented Karela from scoring.
* Emmanuel Boahene (Nations FC), LB
The left-back dazzled in Nations FC’s famous 1-0 win in Samraboi. Samartex struggled on the left-hand side of Nations FC due to Boahene’s explosiveness.
Midfielders
Prince Acquah (Nations FC), CDM
Prince Acquah dominated the midfield of Samsrtex as he gave Keyekeh a tough time. His decision-making was awesome just like his passes.
*Mohammed Alidu (Legon Cities), LM
Legon Cities drew goalless against Accra Lions but Alidu was a standout player in that fixture. The young midfielder showed why he deserves to be in Laryea’s Best XI with incredible displays.
Salifu Ibrahim (Hearts of Oak), RM
Salifu Ibrahim Di Maria was on the score sheet as his crossing took a deflection which levelled the score for the Phobians. Ibrahim has been a constant menace to defenders in the ongoing Premier League and he continued it on Sunday against Nsoatreman.
Forward
*Abdul Razak Yussif (Great Olympics), LF
Razak was superb against Heart of Lions as he scored a brace to help Olympics to secure a 2-0 win. His first goal was a delight to watch
*Kassim Cisse (Hearts of Oak), CF
Ivorian striker Kassim Cisse kept his composure and fired home the ball to give Phobia a 2-1 win in Nsoatre. He was very hot to handle by the Nsoatreman defence.
*Mizack Afriyie (Berekum Chelsea), RM
20-year-old Mizack Afriyie’s second-half brace helped Chelsea secure an emphatic 3-0 win over Karela. The youngster was fantastic on the day as he massacred Karela’s defenders with ease.
