Ghana Premier League Week 26 Preview: Dreams FC vs Asante Kotoko

Dreams FC welcome Asante Kotoko to the Theatre of Dreams, Dawu in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 26 showdown.

The hosts are flirting with relegation despite having two games in hand and will go all out against the former champions who are winless since Matchday 19 when they beat Bibiani Gold Stars 1-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Dreams FC are 16th on the league table with 28 points and are winless in their last 5 league games having recorded 19 home points in the ongoing campaign. The Still Believe lads have scored 17 and conceded 10 league goals – the second lowest in this campaign and head into the game with two successive draws in their last 2 home games.

Asante Kotoko are winless in their last 5 league games and are currently 10th in the league table with 33 points – 13 points of the top. The Porcupine Warriors have managed 15 points on the road this season: conceded 13 and scored 13 league goals – to become the best away side in the league. They go into the game buoyed by the draw they secured at Fosu Gyeabuor against Bechem United.

Dreams FC have played Asante Kotoko three times at home since 2020/21 season with Dreams FC winning one and losing two. In the 2020/21 season, Dreams FC lost 1-0 to Asante Kotoko, suffered a 3-1 defeat in the 2021/22 season before winning 2-0 in the 2022/23 season.

Dreams FC top scorer Agyenim Boateng Mensah will miss the game on Sunday after been sent off at the Golden City Park n midweek. Their star man Abdul Aziz Issah is however available with the likes of Eric Boateng, Abdul Jalilu, McCarthy Ofori, Sylvester Simba, Dede Ishmael, Godfred Atuahene, John Antwi, Emmanuel Agyei, Sulemana Suhiyini and returnee Joseph Esso.

Asante Kotoko star man Stephen Mukwala Desse is also available and hopes to extend his 9 league goals tally. Yahaya Baba, Justice Blay, Nicholas Bonsu, Rocky Dwamena, Emmanuel Kotei, Enock Morrison, Andrews Ntim, Yusif Nurudeen, Isaac Oppong, Kalo Ouattara and Henry Ansu all ready for the game.
