Johnson Oppong Owusu and Samba O’Neil inspired Asante Kotoko to a convincing 2-0 victory over Young Apostles in Week 23 of the Ghana Premier League at the Wenchi Sports Stadium.
Asante Kotoko returned to winning form after a three-match run without victory, producing a dominant first-half performance to secure all three points.
Johnson Oppong Owusu opened the scoring just six minutes into the game, rising above defenders to head home a well-delivered cross from Albert Amoah. Ten minutes later, captain Samba O’Neil doubled the lead with another header that deflected off a defender before finding the back of the net.
The early goals gave the Porcupine Warriors full control of the match. They managed the game calmly in the second half and prevented the hosts from mounting any serious comeback.
The win pushes Kotoko back into the top four, although they remain seven points behind the league leaders as the title race continues.
Young Apostles, on the other hand, stay close to the relegation zone and will need positive results in their upcoming matches to ease the pressure.
