Following the African School Football Championship held in Niamey, where Ghana’s U15 team emerged victorious, the stage is set for the first edition of the UFOA Zone B U17 Women’s Nations Cup.

Scheduled to take place from December 12 to 26, 2024, at the GFA Technical Center in Prampram, the tournament will see Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria vying for the inaugural title.

It’s worth noting that Burkina Faso, initially drawn in the same group as Ghana and Benin, has withdrawn from the competition due to unforeseen circumstances.

Fixtures of the match:

Ahead of the opening match between Ghana and Benin, coaches from both teams shared their thoughts. Coach Nana Joe Adarkwa expressed confidence in his team’s preparation, stating, “We have prepared adequately for the tournament, having been in camp for over a month. We are hopeful for the best result.” He further emphasized the importance of adapting to the rhythm of the competition to achieve their ultimate goal of winning.

Player Zipporah Ayantoya expressed her excitement about being part of the team and participating in the tournament after a two-year hiatus. She acknowledged the pressure associated with hosting the event and expressed the team’s determination to live up to expectations and bring glory to Ghana.

While no official information has been released by CAF regarding African representation at the FIFA U17 World Cup, it is generally understood that Africa has four slots. The champions of each of the four CAF zones are expected to qualify for the tournament, which will be hosted by Morocco in 2025.

Meanwhile, Ghana U17 women’s national team head coach Joe Nana Adarkwa has announced his final roster ahead of the inaugural 2024 WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Cup.
