Ghanaian striker Caleb Ansah Ekuban has hinted on why he rejected a move to Konyaspor despite Genoa agreeing to the deal.
Ekuban who has been a pale shadow of himself in the Italian Serie A with Genoa scoring just twice in 26 games stressed that he has never fancied a transfer in winter as it feels like he might be running away.
“My manager asked me what I wanted to do at the end of December, there were several offers. I spent 3 very good years in Turkey and I will never stop thanking them.”Ekuban indicated.
“I don’t like changing teams in January. It feels like running away to me. Leaving might be the easiest way out, but I don’t like that thought. So I stayed in Genoa and wanted to make amends. I thought we could stay in the relegation. Everything seemed in jeopardy in January, now anything is possible. We believe we will stay in the league.” .
Ekuban previously played for Trabzonspor in Turkey where he attained cult status before moving to Genoa.
