Ghana target Ansgar Knauff was in action for Eintracht Frankfurt as they defeated Rangers Football Club of Scotland 5-4 on penalties to win the 2022 Europa League on Wednesday night.

Frankfurt eliminated FC Barcelona in the quarter-finals stage and now they have proven why they deserved to go through. The Bundesliga side went ahead to kick out West Ham United at the semis before yesterday’s final success.

Ansgar Knauff, 20 who was born in Germany to Ghanaian father and German mother, started the game and helped his side to clinched the prestigious trophy in Seville.

Ghana legend Tony Yeboah made big name at the German club, scoring 89 goals across five seasons ( 1990 – 1995).

The game ended 1-1 after 120 minutes and in the penalty shootouts, the German club triumphed with only former Arsenal player Aaron Ramsey missing his kick for Rangers. All the other nine players converted their attempts successfully.

It was Frankfurt’s first European glory for over 40 years  – since their last success in 1980 when they won the same competition then known as the UEFA Cup.
