The Black Stars concluded their final training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday as they prepared for an upcoming international friendly against the Lone Stars of Liberia, scheduled for Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
Under the guidance of coach Chris Hughton, all 25 players in camp participated in the training. Hughton had previously steered Ghana to qualification for the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations set to take place in January of the following year.
This friendly match serves as vital preparation for Ghana, as they gear up for international friendlies against Mexico and the United States of America next month. Additionally, they are focused on the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, commencing in November.
Liberia, on the other hand, faced disappointment by failing to secure a spot in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament. They finished third in a challenging group that included African powerhouses Morocco and South Africa.
Coach Chris Hughton is expected to provide opportunities to players who did not participate in the recent game against the Central African Republic.
Notably, this match marks Ghana’s return to the Accra Sports Stadium for the first time since March 28, 2021. On that occasion, the Black Stars triumphed over Sao-Tome and Principe with a 3-1 victory, securing their 9th consecutive Africa Cup of Nations ticket in 15 years.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 4 pm on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
