The Ghana U-20 men’s national team, known as the Black Satellites, will commence residential camping today, April 8, in Accra, as part of preparations for the upcoming 2025 TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The team recently returned from a training tour in Morocco, where they were expected to sharpen their skills ahead of the tournament. Although Ghana faced back-to-back defeats against the Young Atlas Lions and had their scheduled friendly against Sierra Leone postponed, the tour offered valuable experience that is expected to benefit the players in the upcoming competition.
Initially, the tournament was set to take place in Côte d’Ivoire, but the venue was later shifted to Egypt, with the new dates scheduled from April 26 to May 18, 2025.
After a brief break, head coach Desmond Offei has named his final 20-man squad for the continental showdown. The team will be based at the Erata Hotel in Accra, where they will begin intensive preparations in the coming weeks.
During this camping phase, the technical team will take players through rigorous training sessions and arrange a series of high-profile friendly matches to help the squad build momentum and fine-tune tactics.
Ghana booked their ticket to the U-20 AFCON after finishing as runners-up at the last WAFU Championship. They have been drawn into Group A, alongside former hosts Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, and Tanzania.
With the team’s preparations now entering a crucial stage, expectations remain high as the Black Satellites aim to make a strong impression on the continental stage once again.
