Ghana’s U15 Girls have booked their place in the final of the WAFU B Zonal Qualifiers of the CAF African Schools Championship after a commanding 3–0 victory over Côte d’Ivoire in Wednesday’s semifinal clash in Ouagadougou.

The defending champions have been nothing short of sensational in their title defence, scoring an impressive 15 goals in just three matches on their way to a second consecutive final.

After a tense and cagey first half, tournament leading scorer Margaret Akosua Tawiah broke the deadlock from the penalty spot early in the second period. Her goal settled Ghana’s nerves and opened the floodgates for a dominant finish.

Belinda Kpentey doubled the advantage with a stunning strike, before Mavis Koah sealed the victory, completing a dominant display at the 4 August Stadium.

Ghana’s path to the final has been marked by overwhelming superiority. Sandra Boakye’s young side opened their campaign with a 5–0 demolition of Benin, followed by a ruthless 7–0 win over Niger to top their group with flair and confidence. Their fluidity, attacking prowess, and tactical discipline have won over fans in Burkina Faso, who have been treated to a blend of pace, precision and creativity.

With momentum firmly on their side, the Ghanaian girls now prepare to face hosts Burkina Faso in Thursday’s final, an encounter that promises intensity and high-quality juvenile football. Ghana enter the tie as favourites, but the home crowd and spirited Burkinabé squad could provide a stern test in their quest to retain the sub-regional title they lifted in Niger last year.

The ongoing qualifiers, organised under the banner of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), form part of a flagship continental initiative designed to strengthen grassroots football and groom the next generation of African talents.

The WAFU-B zone, which includes regional powerhouses such as Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Niger and hosts Burkina Faso, remains one of Africa’s most fiercely competitive arenas for youth football development.
