Ghana’s Black Starlets secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Morocco in the opening match of their two-game international friendly series at the King Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat.
Ghana started brightly and showed attacking intent from the opening stages, creating opportunities against the Moroccan defence.
The Black Starlets took the lead in the 24th minute when Hope Agbasi finished off a well-delivered cross from Yaw Acheampong.
Ghana continued to press for a second goal before the break, with Alidu Issah and Acheampong forcing saves from the Moroccan goalkeeper. Morocco survived the pressure and went into the interval one goal down.
The Ghanaian youngsters extended their advantage soon after the restart when Acheampong was brought down inside the penalty area after getting past his marker.
Alidu Issah stepped up to take the resulting penalty and calmly converted to give Ghana a 2-0 lead.
The Black Starlets continued to search for more goals as Morocco struggled to contain Ghana’s attacking play.
Substitute Gavi Robinho came close to adding a third with a long-range attempt, but his effort went over the crossbar.
Nii Odoi Tawiah also had a good opportunity after reacting quickly to a rebound, but his effort was blocked by a Moroccan defender and went out for a corner.
The 2-0 victory gives Coach Kassim Mingle and his technical team a positive start to the friendly series as they continue preparations for the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship.
The regional tournament will also serve as Ghana’s qualifying competition for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Starlets will meet Morocco again in the second friendly at the King Mohammed VI Football Complex on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
