Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy expressed his belief in Ghana’s potential to clinch victory in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), suggesting that such a triumph would be a surprise to many.
Stonebwoy conveyed his solidarity with the Black Stars during a farewell dinner organized by the President in Kumasi ahead of the tournament. He encouraged the team to perform well and bring home the African Cup.
Speaking about the team, Stonebwoy emphasized his joy at being in the players’ presence, especially acknowledging Dede Ayew as a brother whom he had previously met in Qatar.
“We are solidly behind them in all aspects. They should go and do us good and possibly win the African Cup for us in this tournament; yes, it will definitely come as a surprise to the whole of the world and Africa, but I have great beliefs in my brothers and the technical team,” he expressed.
After the dinner, the Black Stars proceeded to Ivory Coast on Wednesday afternoon to continue their preparations. Ghana is poised to kick off their group stage campaign against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
Subsequently, they will face record champions Egypt in their second group match and conclude the group stage against Mozambique on January 22.
