Ghanaian forward Naeem Mohammed put on a brilliant display on Sunday, netting twice to help Halmstads BK claim a 3-1 victory over IFK Värnamo in the Swedish Allsvenskan.
The game, played at Finnvedsvallen Stadium, saw Halmstad get off to a flying start. Marcus Olsson opened the scoring in the 5th minute after connecting with a pass from Vinicius Nogueira. Just a minute later, Mohammed added a second, once again with Nogueira playing the provider.
Before the break, Mohammed struck again in the 44th minute, this time converting a pass from Olsson to complete his brace and give Halmstad a dominant 3-0 lead going into halftime.
Värnamo managed to reduce the deficit in the 73rd minute through Viktor Bergh, but Halmstad stayed in control to wrap up their fourth win in their last five league outings—pushing them up to second place in the table.
Mohammed’s two-goal performance raised his season total to five goals in 13 matches, making him Halmstad’s leading scorer and placing him 17th among the top scorers in the league.
Since joining the club from Sandvikens IF in December 2022, Mohammed has continued to be a key player in Halmstad’s attacking force.
