Ghanaian defender Godfred Boakye has completed a permanent transfer to Azerbaijani champions Sabah FK after impressing during his loan spell with the club.
The 20-year-old centre-back joins Sabah on a permanent deal after leaving Birmingham City’s U21 setup, earning the trust of the Azerbaijani champions with his consistent performances at the heart of their defence.
Boakye enjoyed a breakthrough campaign during his loan spell, making 25 appearances across all competitions, including 21 league matches, while helping Sabah maintain defensive solidity throughout the season.
The Ghanaian youngster was praised for his physical strength, aerial ability, composure in possession and maturity beyond his age, qualities that convinced Sabah to secure his services on a permanent basis.
His transfer comes at an exciting time for the club, with Sabah preparing for UEFA Champions League football and looking to build a squad capable of competing on both domestic and European fronts.
