Ghana defender Maxwell Woledzi has been named Fredrikstad’s 2025 Player of the Year, capping off a superb season for the in-form centre-back.
The 24-year-old enjoyed his most impressive campaign yet, making 37 appearances in all competitions and earning widespread praise for his consistency, composure, and leadership in defence.
Woledzi was instrumental in Fredrikstad’s resurgence, helping the club clinch their first Norway Cup title in 18 years and securing a spot in the Eliteserien Team of the Year. His dominance in the air, excellent reading of the game, and calm presence at the back made him one of the standout defenders in the Norwegian top flight.
The former FC Nordsjaelland and Vitória Guimarães B player joined Fredrikstad in 2023 on a deal running through December 2026. Since arriving, he has developed into one of the club’s most influential figures.
Woledzi’s market value is currently estimated at €2.2 million, and interest in the Ghanaian continues to grow. Nashville SC are reported to have submitted a bid, with Fredrikstad expected to evaluate the offer in the coming days as more clubs monitor his situation.
