German-born Ghanaian defender Patric Pfeiffer played a pivotal role in FC Augsburg’s comeback victory against Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga.
Despite conceding an early goal when Ludovic Ajorque scored for the visitors in the sixth minute, Augsburg quickly responded, with Ermedin Demirovic finding the net just five minutes later to level the score.
Notably, before Augsburg’s equalizer, Stefan Bell missed an opportunity to extend Mainz’s lead when he failed to convert from the penalty spot.
Pfeiffer, who recently committed to representing Ghana internationally, made a significant impact in the match. He provided the decisive assist to Ermedin Demirovic, setting up the winning goal just before half-time.
The lanky center-back joined FC Augsburg during the summer transfer window, having previously helped SV Darmstadt earn promotion to the German topflight league.
Despite his switch in nationalities to represent Ghana in 2022, Patric Pfeiffer is yet to make an appearance for the Black Stars.
