Ghanaian international Patrick Kpozo played a pivotal role for Banik Ostrava in their Czech top-flight encounter against Slavia Prague on Sunday.
The Black Stars left-back showcased his skills, delivering an assist in the round 19 fixture, but Banik Ostrava ultimately suffered a 3-2 home defeat at the Mestsky stadion v Ostrave-Vitkovicich.
Czech Republic international Vaclav Jurecka initiated the scoring for Slavia Prague in the 26th minute. However, Banik Ostrava swiftly responded, with David Buchta finding the net in the 27th minute after a well-connected pass from Patrick Kpozo.
Tomas Rigo added to the home team’s tally, scoring in the 29th minute to take Banik Ostrava into the lead. Mick van Buren, on the other hand, ensured Slavia Prague leveled the score just before halftime.
The second half witnessed Jan Boril securing victory for Slavia Prague, delivering the decisive goal in the 59th minute.
Despite Kpozo’s impactful performance, Banik Ostrava couldn’t secure the win. The Ghanaian defender has been instrumental since joining the club in June 2023, providing two assists in 18 games.
