Ghanaian defender Travis Akomeah captains Chelsea U-18 to a commanding 9-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion

English-born Ghana defender Travis Akomeah captained Chelsea’s U-18 side and helped to to post an emphatic 9-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon in the English U-18 Premier League clash- game week 12.

The calm-looking defender was in full 90 minutes for the young blues as they blushed aside West Bromwich Albion in the game played at the Cobham Training Centre.

Shumaira Mheuka scored a hat-trick, with Donnell McNeilly and Chinonso Chibueze scoring a brace each, while Frankie Runham and
Harrison McMahon adding one apiece. Cheik Kone, on the other hand, netted the only consolation goal for West Bromwich Albion in the 79th minute mark of the game.

Travis Akomeah captain Chelsea Under 18s against Crystal Palace in the U18 Premier League

Akomeah who was born in London, England on January 6th, 2006, joined Chelsea’s U16 side from Watford in 2022. He is a very exciting central defender who has a great physical, imposing presence on the pitch. In addition to this, he is very comfortable with playing out from the back.

Travis has represented England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 levels and made four appearances for Chelsea’s Under-18s side.

Meanwhile, Genesis Antwi who was a second half substitute, assisted Chelsea’s ninth goal of the match.
