Ghanaian football talents Elisha Owusu and Gideon Mensah played pivotal roles in AJ Auxerre’s triumphant return to the French Ligue 1, clinching the Ligue 2 title and securing promotion for the upcoming season.

After a brief stint in the topflight in 2021/22, followed by relegation, the duo’s perseverance paid off as they celebrated victory with a crucial goalless draw against Amiens SC.

Owusu’s influential presence throughout the campaign, marked by a 90% successful pass completion rate in 29 league appearances, underscored his significance.

Mensah’s contribution, including a cameo appearance in the decisive match, added to the team’s success, having featured in 25 league games.

With 71 points in 37 matches and a game to spare, AJ Auxerre emerged as champions, setting the stage for a grand finale against Concarneau on May 17 at the Stade de I’Abbe-Deschamps.
