Ghanaian footballer Mohammed Fuseini is on the road to recovery after being violently attacked and robbed in Brussels, Belgium, in an incident that has sparked widespread concern across the football community.
The 24-year-old forward, who currently plays for Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise, was reportedly assaulted on Sunday while seated inside his parked vehicle.
According to reports from Belgian media outlet Het Laatste Nieuws, five unidentified men forcefully dragged Fuseini out of his car before assaulting him and stealing his personal belongings. The attackers allegedly took his mobile phone and a luxury wristwatch valued between €8,000 and €14,000 before fleeing the scene.
The Ghana international sustained injuries during the attack and was rushed to hospital, where he received medical treatment. Although the full extent of his injuries has not been made public, he is understood to be recovering well following the traumatic ordeal.
The shocking incident has generated significant attention after footage of the robbery surfaced on social media. Belgian police have confirmed they are aware of the video, while the case has since been transferred to the public prosecutor’s office. Authorities are actively investigating the attack and working to identify and arrest those responsible.
In a statement, Union Saint-Gilloise condemned the violent assault on their player and expressed gratitude to the Brussels police for their swift response.
The Belgian champions also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Fuseini throughout his recovery, both physically and emotionally.
“We thank the Brussels police for their excellent work,” the club stated, while assuring supporters that they remain in close contact with the Ghanaian striker during this difficult period.
Fuseini joined Union Saint-Gilloise two years ago after successful spells with Austrian side Sturm Graz and Danish club Randers. Since arriving in Belgium, he has established himself as an important member of the team’s attacking line, earning praise for his pace, work rate, and eye for goal. His impressive performances have also strengthened his reputation as one of Ghana’s most promising football talents playing abroad.
