Ghanaian forward Asumah Abubakar-Ankrah target a win against his former team Lugano in Swiss Super League

Ghanaian forward Asumah Abubakar-Ankrah is hopeful of helping FC Luzern escape relegation after joining from FC Lugano this winter transfer window.

The 24-year-old Ghanaian dosn’t even want to beat about the bush as he admit feeling pressure when it comes to the second half of the season.

FC Luzern who won the Swiss Cup faces a difficult task as they have fallen to the last place on the league table and making their situation too precarious.

Today, at his ex-club Lugano, a win must finally come. It would be the first in the league since October 24 when they FC St Gallen 2-0.

“Now we are all challenged to find our way out of this difficult situation,” says Abubakar, knowing that there is additional pressure on his shoulders. He is considered a beacon of hope for this second half of the season, as a goal promise, as a breakaway.”

But the fast, agile man from Ghana, who also has a Portuguese passport, seems to be able to handle it well.

“It’s a challenge for me, of course. But I’m happy to accept it – I absolutely want to help, because I feel at home here in Central Switzerland”, he said.

Luzern are at the bottom of the league table after 19 matches with 11 points and must beat Lugano to boost their survival hopes alive.
